Daniel Paul Johns est un chanteur et guitariste australien, leader du groupe de rock Silverchair. Avec Ben Gillies, le batteur, ils se connaissent depuis l'enfance. À l'âge de 12 ans, on lui offre sa 1ère guitare : il commence à en jouer seul, puis prend des cours de guitare classique. Quand les 2 acolytes rencontrent Chris Joannou au lycée, ils créent le groupe Short Elvis, renommé Innocent Criminals. Ils jouent des reprises de Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath et Deep Purple. En 1992, le groupe devient Silverchair, et le trio créée ses propres titres. En 1994, il gagne une compétition nationale et signe avec Sony Music. En 1995, le groupe sort son 1er album, Frogstomp. Depuis, il a sorti plusieurs opus, comme Freak Show (1994), Neon Ballroom (1999), Diorama (2002), ou encore Young Mode (2007). Côté coeur, Daniel est marié avec la chanteuse Natalie Imbruglia depuis 2003.
